Beach Dunes: a time of transition

For me, I am drawn to painting, sketching, drawing beach dunes during the fall months. I find the wind blowing the grass, and the muted pink, orange, and sand tones of fall to be intoxicating this time of year as I watch the earth around me transition seasons. Beach Dunes represent a transition zone between the earth around us and the shoreline. Most people do not give it a second thought as they are walking along the sandy dunes, or boardwalk but this journey builds up the magic as you being to hear the sound of the waves, and if you're like me, itch to feel the cool sand on your feet. Ironically, I find my self personally in a transition period as I lean into what the third trimester of this pregnancy has to teach me, as I wait for my baby to arrive.

How the Conch Shell Embroidery kits were born

During 2018, when I was pregnant and had severe nausea and insomnia with my second pregnancy, I decided to start weaving. I grew up watching my mother sew by hand and on the sewing machine so the desire to sew came naturally. In a way, I felt closer to my Mother by using my hands to sew. I ordered a frame, some thread/yarn, and sat down to rest while I worked on my new project. It was extremely meditative and therapeutic for me and it was a practice that carried into my post-partum stage when I was up late at night nursing. So when my third and current pregnancy started out similarly with severe nausea in my first trimester, I reached for my thread again.
