Beach Dunes is a theme I love to revisit every year. Last year, my son started kindergarten and it was a deeply emotional time for me. Processing being away from him, processing how fast time flies, I probably cried for a week straight. There's no greater joy or bigger calling for me than being a mother to my children. That being said, I put last year's "Beach Dunes" release on hold. This year, I am excited to dive into finally sharing what I've been working on over the last few years!

For me, I am drawn to painting, sketching, drawing beach dunes during the fall months. I find myself still clamoring to enjoy as many beach days as I can before the snow sets in and my beach bag is full of sweaters and sketchbooks. I love just sitting and observing the dunes this time of year. The wind blowing the grass, and the muted pink, orange, and sand tones of fall to be intoxicating this time of year as I watch the earth around me transition seasons. Flowers still fill the earth all around me and I reach to pick them as they feel like the last pieces of summer left behind.

To me, Beach Dunes represent a transition zone between the earth around me and the shoreline. Most people do not give it a second thought as they are walking along the sandy dunes, or boardwalk to get to the shoreline, but this journey builds up the magic for me as I walk along and begin to hear the sound of the waves, start to get a peek of what the waves are doing, and if you're like me, itch to feel the cool sand on your feet. I love stopping to notice the foliage, the light, and all the little details all along the way.

Ironically, I find my self personally in a transition period as I lean into what the third trimester of this pregnancy has to teach me, as I wait for my baby to arrive. In my 40 years of life on this earth, I have learned that there is magic in transition periods. However fleeting they always are, we must not blink or we miss them.
