The art of destroying, remembering, and starting new

Artist in Residency Playful Project

Andrea Naylor

This week, I worked on an idea I've had brewing in my head for quite some time: to create and then destroy or erase a painting. So I bought a large piece of plexiglass and spent some time painting it, then cleaning off what I had painted. I noticed a different mind state and energy emerged when I was creating/painting the piece compared to when I was cleaning it off. Cleaning it off or "destroying" a painting was new territory for me. It taught me a lot about how my thoughts affect my work and how to access a growth mindset. I look forward to continuing this practice in the future.
